How do I order a cake?

We prefer cake orders to be placed by email so that we can make sure to keep all of the details in written form. You can click on the “Order a Cake” link above to email me directly from the website. Orders placed over phone are sometimes used when time permits. The most important piece of information is the date of your event. We have limited space and so we book our cakes on a first come, first deposit, first serve basis, so we must check to see if your date is available. Also, please have an idea of how big you’d like the cake to be (how many people will you want to feed with this cake). Feel free to email us with any ideas of designs and styles that you have in mind. We encourage you to send photos of other cakes or inspirations that we can use to help design a unique cake for you. We will also ask for detailed contact information, event information, preferred pick-up or delivery times. For cakes over $100, a non-refundable deposit to reserve your date is needed.

How much are Toot Sweet’s sheet cakes?

1/4 sheet cake is $39, 1/2 sheet cake is $59, and full sheet cake is $109. Cake is layered with a filling.

How far in advance should I place my order?

We can only accommodate a limited number of cakes, depending on the complexity of the orders, so we suggest that you reserve your date as soon as possible with a $100 deposit. Most of our cakes are booked three weeks to several months in advance.

Do you make sugar-free, gluten-free, dairy-free, or vegan cakes?

Cake is essentially sugar mixed with sugar, iced with sugar and then covered in sugar. Unfortunately, I do not make any cakes that are sugar-free, gluten-free, dairy-free, or vegan at this time. Please check our cupcakes for sugar-free, gluten-free, dairy-free, or vegan flavors!

What type of payment do you accept?

For now, we take cash, check, or credit cards via PayPal. There is a $25 fee for bounced checks.

I’m pretty sure I hate fondant… but wait, what is fondant exactly?

Most of our cakes are covered in homemade marshmallow fondant, which is a sugar dough made from powdered sugar and melted mini-marshmallows. If you’ve ever had fondant on another cake, you know how badly traditional fondant tastes. Marshmallow fondant, on the other hand, tastes delicious and looks just as great as regular fondant. We cover our cakes in buttercream before covering them in a thin layer of marshmallow fondant. Our marshmallow fondant looks great, tastes great, and locks in the moisture of the cake. For those of you who think you don’t like fondant, we encourage you to please try ours. We’ve turned many to the dark side!

Do you deliver or ship cakes?

Yes, we can deliver and set up your cake in the Austin, TX and surrounding areas. No, we cannot ship cakes outside of Austin, TX. Delivery prices are calculated according to total travel distance. Generally, delivery and set up to:
– Austin is around $25
– Dripping Springs, Driftwood are around $20
– North of Austin to Georgetown are around $35-95

Please contact me for specific prices on delivery. There is no charge for pick up orders, however, every 30 minutes that you are late to pick up a cake, there is a $10 late charge. (We aren’t able to be late for other deliveries.)

Toot Sweet is not responsible for any damage to the order after setup is complete. You are responsible for providing an appropriate environment and sturdy table for the cake. Be aware that the optimal environment for a cake is inside an air-conditioned room, away from direct sun rays. Cakes can weigh anywhere from 15-60 pounds so a sturdy and level table is required. Nobody wants a cake wreck! If flowers are provided, you acknowledge that flowers are not a food product and may contain pesticides, insects, dirt, or other contaminants. Toot Sweet is not responsible for any changes or damages made to the cake by a florist or flowers.

If you or someone you trust pick up and set up the cake, you assume all liability and responsibility for the condition of the cake once it leaves Toot Sweet possession. I usually suggest having the cake refrigerated until around 30 minutes before the party or reception. These cakes have cream fillings, fruit fillings, and buttercream so they are meant to be eaten, not to sit on a table all night. I encourage my brides to cut the wedding cake immediately after finishing dinner. The wedding guests want to see the traditional cutting of the cake and they also want to EAT the yummy cake. Please don’t deny them that privilege.

*There is a $50 cancellation fee if Toot Sweet is not notified within 5 days of the cancellation so that I can book other cakes in its place.

*An estimated minimum $250 order is required for a complimentary cake tasting. If you do not meet this minimum but would like a cake tasting, there is a $25 fee. Cake tastings are offered a few times throughout the year but are not mandatory.

*There is no extra charge for ordering multiple flavors if you’re ordering multiple tiers (bigger than a 4-6 inch round). I encourage variety.

What are your cake prices?

All of our cakes are unique and customized to fit your needs so we do not have set prices for the cakes on our website. Cakes are priced according to several different criteria. Our base prices are $3.00 per serving for round or square cakes and $6.00 per serving for shaped cakes but keep in mind that our wedding serving sizes are larger than most traditional bakeries since we only have one serving size chart. Whether you eat this at a wedding, at a party, or in your living room, it’s all the same base price and same size. Factors that add to the price include intricate fondant decorations, painting, or other time consuming design elements, and delivery. Price estimates will be provided when orders are placed, but final prices are not set until the design is completed. This quote is only valid for one week and a deposit is required to hold the price.

How do I schedule a cake tasting?

Complimentary cake tastings are available (but not guaranteed) for cakes estimated to be over $250, which includes up to three cake flavors of your choice. Additional flavors may be requested for $7 each. If you don’t meet the minimum but would still like a tasting, it is $25. I schedule my tastings in waves so that you can try more than just the 3 flavors and I make up full sized cakes so you can see what the cake will look like and taste what the cake will taste like. You can bring up to two guests with you.

Do you require a deposit for cake orders?

Yes, if the cake is estimated to cost over $100, we require a non-refundable deposit of $100 in order to hold your date. Cakes must be paid in full one week before the date of delivery/pick-up. If you are using one of our cake bases or platforms for your cake display, there is a mandatory separate $75 deposit that will be returned to you if the cake base is returned to Toot Sweet within 5 days from the date the cake is due. If not returned within 5 days, the $75 deposit is no longer refundable. We do this because we love our cake bases and we don’t charge a rental fee like most cakeries. This is the only way to be sure that we get our products back in the best of conditions.
